The IYTT at the Audiovisual Days
25 October
Colours and sounds dominate our experience of the world. This is even more true in a digital world: we learn, stay informed and entertain ourselves through audiovisual content. The way this content is produced, being on TV or Social Media, is rapidly changing. How is generative AI transforming filmmaking? What will future podcasts sound like? How can we harness new technologies to allow everyone to produce high-quality audiovisual content?
The Audiovisual Days are a unique venue to explore the latest innovations in the creative industry. Experts from filmmaking to journalism will reveal the most recent developments in the way we produce stories and inspire people. The event will be hosted at the Visual Arena at Lindholmen Science Park in Gothenburg, between November 8th and 10th 2023.
The IYTT could not miss the occasion to participate. It is hard to overstate the impact that audiovisual production has on democratic processes. When an activist group uses a documentary to convince people to sign a petition; when a political campaigner uses social media to build consensus; when a journalist passes on information through an animated video: all democratic actors are increasingly involved in the production of stories, and in particular, digital stories.
Youth fellow Michele Castrezzati will be present at the event to run Open Chair Democracy Talks with participants. He will also display a visual product himself: AQUAE is a collection of photographs taken in Rajasthan, India, depicting struggles for water in a region thorn by severe drought and water inequality. During his thesis fieldwork in the area, Michele took shots of people drinking, fetching water, swimming, bathing, washing, in an effort to document the complex relationship between humans and water in times of water scarcity.
On Thursday November 9th, Michele will also be involved in moderating a “Lunch and Learn” seminar at Lindholmen Science Park. The theme of the seminar will be “4Cities: studying urban development in 4 European capitals”. Drawing on his experience as a student of the Erasmus Mundus Master’s in Urban Studies, Michele will invite the audience to reflect on how universities can use their host cities as classrooms and living cases studies.
