Sports in Society: Personal Reflections from a World-Spanning Career
Carolina Klüft is a former track and field athlete, achievements including titles of Olympic and World heptathlon champion. She is now the operations manager of Generation Pep, a Swedish non-profit organisation working to give children and young people the opportunity and will to live active and healthy lives. She is an honorary doctor of medicine at the Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg.
This Gothenburg Democracy Talk is part of the International Youth Think Tank’s ongoing work on Sports and Social Cohesion. Following the presentation by our distinguished guest speaker, a pair of our Youth Fellows will reflect on the subject at hand and give a brief overview of the ideas developed by the think tank so far.

This lunch seminar series is organized by the the IYTT-International Youth Think Tank, and the Department of Law at the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg, in collaboration with the student-led lunch event organizer Brännpunkt Europa. It is financed by Gustav Adolf Bratts föreläsningsfond.

Bright Ideas for the Future – Fifth Anniversary International Youth Conference Presentation
Presenting the ideas of 24 young democracy innovators from 12 countries.
For the fifth year in a row, we are gathering 24 young people aged 18–24, in a collaboration to bring forth visionary ideas on the strengthening and development of democracy. 540 young persons from 68 countries have applied to this year’s conference, signifying our international outreach. The proud city of Barcelona, first to hold the title of European Capital of Democracy, are graciously hosting this our fifth anniversary conference. This event concludes the conference, giving the general public the opportunity to tap into the great minds of the leaders of tomorrow.
The event will start with a 10-minute presentation of the proposals that have been produced during the conference, followed by comments from a four-headed panel. The event is concluded by an open floor discussion when the audience is given the opportunity to share comments and questions.
